Pro Poker Challenge of America and LIPS Tour Team Up in Lima Peru
Ladies International Poker Series (www.LIPSTour.com), the world’s largest poker tour for women has teamed up with Pro Poker Challenge of America to launch the first ever international poker series in the upscale city of Miraflores, adjacent to Lima, Peru August 23rd to September 1st, 2008.
The luxurious Casino Atlantic City (http://acity.com.pe/portada/) will host the event, with action kicking off Saturday, August 23rd with a Mega Satellite that will give winners their entire week’s entry to all events including the $1,080 Main Event buy in. The series will bring together a first class field of players including poker greats Linda Johnson and Jan Fisher as featured guests. They will offer a poker strategy seminar for all those in attendance as well.
The series offers daily tournaments ranging from $225 to $550 including a bounty tournament, a ladies tournament and the main event at $1080. Satellites are held daily and English and Spanish speaking staff is available at all times.
Since this is an exotic location, there will be plenty of time for a wide range of tourism experiences. Poker is only allowed to be played from 6PM to 6AM in Peru and Casino Atlantic City is only blocks from the beach. Lima is an inexhaustible source of culture, demonstrated by the existence of numerous and varied museums, some of which guard priceless Incan and pre-Incan treasures. Or visit one of the new “Seven Wonders of the World” Machu Picchu, located near Cusco, Peru. With the wealth of attractions including aquatic sports, enjoying the sun, or simply gazing at the mesmerizing beauty of the Pacific Ocean, there is something for everyone!
“We are absolutely thrilled to be expanding into Latin America,” said Lupe Soto, founder of the LIPS Tour. “This is only the beginning of the new type of poker tourism we’ll be able to offer players. Our goal is to create great poker opportunities and amazing venues in which to play the game as well.”
